Tilspire 1.17.0

Comments as a module of their own, an importer for ProcessWire and WordPress, pages in a tree, and Analytics on a page of its own.

tilspire 1.17.0 is the largest release since 1.0: comments get a module of their own, an existing site can be brought over in one go, and pages, images and analytics all grow up.

Comments, a module of their own #

Comments is a new free module: threads on posts, and on pages whose Layout allows them, from members and, if you allow it, guests. It comes with a spam gate, rules for what waits for a moderator, one moderation queue, and an email when someone replies. Blog comments move over from Forums when you update.

Bring your site with you #

The importer brings a ProcessWire or WordPress site (with ACF) into tilspire: Layouts, pages, images, links, redirects, menus and WordPress comments. It shows you a dry run first, and an import can be undone.

Pages in a tree #

Pages now nest, and a page's address is its whole path, such as /about/team. Moving a page redirects its old address, and the Pages list folds like a tree.

Images and Analytics #

Uploads are turned upright, stripped of camera data and capped at a maximum size, and WebP versions are served automatically; a job brings the images you already have up to date. Analytics has its own page under Site ▸ Analytics, with trends against the period before, devices, hours, campaigns, pages not found (with Redirect it), download links and a CSV export.

And more #

  • A dashboard of widgets you resize and move, favourites in the menu, and each feature's settings on a page of its own in the admin panel.
  • For theme authors, the Template API lists pages by Layout or parent, with filters, sorting and paging.
  • Fields can be required, have a minimum and maximum, or show only when another field has a given value, and there is a gallery field.
  • The installer is a five-step wizard.

Worth knowing when you update #

  • Update Forums to 1.17.0 together with tilspire. Until then, moving blog comments into Comments waits.
  • Use AI features replaces Use the Assistant. Roles that had the old permission keep AI.
  • An address such as /about/x is now "not found" unless a page exists at that path.

This announcement and the updated documentation were proposed through the Operator API and approved by a person. See the changelog for everything in the release.
