Docs: Site search

Site search

Search your site at /search, suggest answers on the ticket form, and optionally answer visitors from your public docs.

Since 1.15.0 tilspire can search your site for your visitors at /search. It's off until you turn it on.

Turning it on #

Switch on site search under System ▸ Settings ▸ General. If a page, a redirect or a module already answers /search, the setting says which, and the dashboard's health check warns about it.

What it finds #

Only what a visitor who isn't signed in could read right now: published pages, Blog posts whose publish date has come, and topics in forums guests can see, with their visible replies. A hidden forum, a draft or a scheduled post never appears. The index updates as you save, and a scheduled job checks it every hour (see Command-line tools for cron.php).

Answers before a ticket #

With the Tickets module and site search both on, the support form suggests pages that may answer the question while the visitor types it.

Turning a forum thread into a docs page #

With the Assistant set up, a moderator can open a forum topic and choose Draft a docs article. The AI writes an unpublished page from the thread, with members' names replaced before anything leaves your site, and it waits in the Review queue for a person.

Answers from your docs (optional) #

Under System ▸ AI settings ▸ Public answers you can let visitors on the search page ask for a short answer drawn from your public pages and posts. Every claim links to the page it came from, and when nothing matches it says so without calling the AI at all. It has its own daily and monthly budget, below your overall cap, and it's off by default. Questions aren't stored, but they are sent to your AI provider, which your privacy notice should mention.
